Democracy, Representation and Elections. Public Lecture Series

2024 has been dubbed the ‘biggest election year in modern history’. Almost half of the world’s population have voted or will vote in national elections this year. Some of these elections are seen as pivotal for democracy while fears of disinformation and AI interference are causing widespread alarm. In this colloquium, lecturers from Carlow College explore aspects of representation and suffrage drawing on their disciplinary areas. A second colloquium on 4th November will examine the US presidential election and explain how the electoral system works ahead of the election on 5th November.
