Transition to College

Taking the leap into third-level education is an exciting time, but can also be one filled with anxiety and stress. At Carlow College, you become part of the family and our team of support staff will help guide you through the transition, so you get on with enjoying your life as a student, and of course, your education.

Induction

During your first week as a student, you’ll have a programme of events that is all about setting you up to succeed in your degree. You’ll meet your Programme Director, Academic Advisor and all the staff that are available to support you through your third-level journey.

Campus Tour

Our student ambassadors will take you on a campus tour so you know where all your lecture halls are located, how to use the library and what’s available in our Student Resource Building.

Supports & Services

Our Student Services team will advise you on what supports are available and how to access them – these range from academic and disability supports to health services and counselling.

Students’ Union

All students are members of the Carlow College Students’ Union. Located in our Student Resource Building, the SU is a great place to hang out between classes and to meet new people. You will also learn about clubs and societies, how to become a class rep and all the exciting social events planned to kick start your College experience.

Student ID & Access

We will set up with your student ID card, email address, Moodle access and show you how to use all the online systems associated with studying at Carlow College. You’ll also get the all important WiFi password!
