The part-time Certificate in Colonialism, Development, and Globalisation helps students understand the power dynamics behind the creation of academic knowledge and mainstream development ideas. It does this by exploring postcolonial and post-development theories and practices, and by looking at how Ireland’s history with empire and capitalism influences our current situation.

The course introduces key topics and ideas in international development, examining the history, economics, and politics of colonialism and development.
