Pathway to College
I did my Leaving Cert in CBS Wexford and studied English, Maths, Irish, Biology, Geography, History and Business. My favourite subjects were English and History and I always had an interest in gettingĀ into secondary school teaching. However, since starting my degree and now in my third year, I find I’m still interested in teaching, butĀ also looking at perhaps pursuing a PhD and go on to do lecturing.Ā
How did you research the college?
To find out more about the College, I attended the Open Day and looked through the prospectus, which was sent to my school, (I first found out about the college this way). I then did more research about the courses on the College website and found the English & History course suited me perfectly. I had previously looked at DCU but they only offered Religion and English, so the English & History course at Carlow College was perfect for me. I really enjoy the wide variety of choices for modules, you are not stuck with one topic.Ā
College Life
It was hard starting somewhere new, with a different vibe to secondary school. I felt I needed to keep up with essays. A good thing is that there is a lot more independence. The lecturers are also really helpful, youāre not spoon-fed the information but helped massively through it
I commute from Wexford by car.
What would you say to other prospective students?
Night life is great š Enjoy every minute of college as it goes by very fast, especially now that the course is 3 years instead of 4. I strongly believes that the college prides itself on supporting it’s students.Ā Ā
