Blended learning combines the flexibility of online education with the benefits of face-to-face engagement. To ensure you have all the information you need, please review our Blended Learning Policy, which explains key expectations and guidelines.

Blended learning programmes are programmes where teaching, learning and assessment occur using a mix of on-site and online learning, with the online components taking place synchronously, asynchronously, or in combination.

Carlow College offers two types of blended  learning programmes:

  1. Synchronous Only. These are programmes where teachers and learners always gather at the same time and interact in “real-time”. These programmes always contain a mixture of some onsite and synchronous online learning.
  2. Synchronous and Asynchronous. These are programmes where teachers and learners gather at the same time and interact in “real-time”.  These programmes always contain a mixture of some onsite and synchronous online learning. In addition, for some portion of course learning, learners also access online learning materials in their own time.

The type of delivery mode for each programme is specified on individual programme information pages.
