Science Week at Carlow College

Carlow College was delighted to join the South East Science Festival this year to celebrate Science Week 2024 from the 11th – 17th November with over 170 people taking part in College events and workshops. The festival, coordinated by Calmast (Stem Engagement Centre) at SETU aims to promote STEM to schools and the wider community.

The theme for Science Week 2024 was ‘Regeneration’ and Carlow College’s Civic Engagement Hub coordinated three events to celebrate the humanities contribution to Regeneration.

Speaking of the events, Chair of the Civic Engagement Hub, Michael Sherman said: “We are delighted to partner with Calmast for a second year to participate in the South East Science Festival. The events we hosted this year really speak to the theme of Regeneration  – and ask people to celebrate their innate abilities to reinvent, rejuvenate, and regenerate, and to explore how the decisions made today will impact the people and the world of the future.”

Biodiversity Tour of College Campus

Our Science Week events kicked off with our Groundskeeper, Larry O’Toole, who gave two fascinating biodiversity walking tours of the college’s grounds with members of the general public and third year students from CBS Carlow.
