Carlow College, Lecturer in English, Dr Eoghan Smith launched is latest novel, A Provincial Death, this week with a launch event at Visual Carlow.

A Provincial Death is the second novel by Eoghan, who published The Failing Heart in 2018 (publisher: Dedalus).

An official launch event was held at Visual Carlow on Wednesday, 9th February attended by Carlow College staff, students and members for the Carlow arts community. A Provincial Death will be available for purchase from 25th February 2022. More details here

Lyrical and blackly comic, A Provincial Death is a startlingly original meditation on solitude and perseverance, the consolations of art and philosophy, and the capacity of human beings to endure catastrophe.

About the Author

Eoghan’s essays and criticism have been published widely, and his other works include a co-edited collection on Irish suburban literature and a monograph on John Banville. He has taught literature and creative writing at universities and colleges in Dublin, Maynooth and, most recently, at Carlow College, St. Patrick’s.
