Carlow College to host Public Lecture on Eve of American Election

With the American election looming, Carlow College is hosting a public lecture on the eve of the election with College Vice President, Dr Eric Derr hosting a lecture titled America at a Crossroads: the 2024 Presidential Election on Monday, 4th November at 1.45pm.  

Dr. Derr is a Lecturer in History in Carlow College and a regular contributor in local media on US politics.  

In this lecture, Dr. Derr will explain how the Electoral College works, the state of the race on the eve of voting and how the 2024 Presidential Election is shaping up to be one of the closest elections in modern American history. He will also examine the imminent threat to Madisonian Democracy and whether it can withstand a repeat of 2020. 

The lecture will take place on Monday, 4th November at 1.45pm in Cobden Hall, Carlow College. It is free to attend, but registration is preferred at carlowcollege.ie/events
