Carlow College marked the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based violence today with a coffee morning and pledge display for staff and students.
The 16 Days of Activism Campaign is a global campaign led by UN Women under the UNITE to End Violence against Women Initiative, which runs from the 25th November to the 10th December each year.Â
Staff and students were invited to wear a white ribbon as a mark of their support for the global movement. The White Ribbon Campaign is a campaign which seeks to engage with men and boys on ending violence against women and gender-based violence.
Furthermore, staff and students were invited to post their name and/or a pledge on our Pledge Board to show their commitment to never commit, condone, or remain silent about gender-based violence.
This event was coordinated by the College’s EDI Team in collaboration with Carlow College Student’s Union.
Star Weaving Workshop
A star weaving workshop with Social Care students and members of the Carlow Travellers Forum was also held in collaboration with Amber Women’s Refuge.Â
