Carlow College hosts ‘Together Against Racism’ event

To celebrate International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, students on the BA (Hons) in Social, Political & Community Studies programme at Carlow College hosted an interactive conversation around Unconscious Bias, titled “Together Against Racism: Exploring Unconscious Bias” on Thursday, 23rd March 2023 in VISUAL.

Unconscious bias is a broad topic, but encapsulates our very existence, everyday interactions and relationship forming as human beings. In that sense, it’s important that we try to understand and be aware of it.

Attendees joined from local secondary schools, services and community groups for a morning of interactive workshops and discussions, hearing personal stories of lived experiences by Carlow College students and a keynote address by Emer O’Neill, Broadcaster, Equality Activist & Writer.

The event was organised as part of an Internship by student Elizabeth O’Brien on the BA (Hons) in Social, Political & Community Studies and  was proudly supported by County Carlow Development Partnership and Visual Carlow.
