In celebration of International Women’s Day 2023, Carlow College planned an exciting programme of events and initiatives for all staff and students.
International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Celebrated globally on 8th March each year, this day is a great opportunity for everyone to come together to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness about women’s equality.
This year, International Women’s Day landed in the College’s first Engagement Week coordinated by the newly formed Civic Engagement Hub.
Chair of the Athena SWAN SAT team in the College, Fiona McGuill said: “The College is delighted to host events to celebrate International Women’s Day. This day affords us the opportunity to promote a culture that is equitable and inclusive for women and to celebrate the achievements of all women, locally, nationally and internationally. As an institute of higher education it is  imperative that every opportunity is utilised to promote a world free of bias and discrimination”.Â
