Carlow College, St. Patrick’s is proud to announce its shortlisting in two prestigious categories at the upcoming Education Awards 2025: Best Masters Programme – Creative, Social and Professional Studies and Excellence in Diversity, Inclusivity & Equality.
The nomination in the Best Masters Programme – Creative, Social and Professional Studies recognises the College’s MA in Irish Regional History, a unique and innovative programme that provides in-depth exploration of Ireland’s local and regional histories. Launched in 2021, the MA in Irish Regional History has grown in popularity each year and gained recognition for its academic rigor and contribution to preserving and analysing Ireland’s rich heritage.



In addition, the College was shortlisted for the category of Excellence in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in recognition of the significant milestones achieved in the last academic year to foster and promote an inclusive environment. The College has actively engaged in initiatives such as signing the Higher Education Authority’s Race Equality Anti-Racism Principles for Irish Higher Education Institutions, reinforcing its dedication to cultural diversity and equity. Additionally, the College’s EDI Committee has led a range of initiatives to promote civic engagement, raise awareness of EDI issues and to embed a culture of inclusive in the College community.
President of Carlow College, Fr Conn Ó Maoldhomhnaigh, expressed his pride in the institution’s achievements, stating, “These nominations are a testament to the Carlow College community’s dedication to academic excellence and our commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable environment for all.”
