My pathway to third level
My pathway to College was easy for me. I applied for entry through the CAO and I got accepted into the college.
Carlow College was recommended to me by my friends and work colleagues who got their qualifications in Carlow. I hoped to achieve a better understanding, learn and gain more skills on the career path that I chose to take, and Carlow provided all that I wanted.
Benefits to future career
The thing I like most about studying Social Care is the fact that I get to learn how to work with and support life and people in the community.
My studies made me become open-minded and look at things in different perspectives and angles—a better understanding of my environment and the invisible challenges that people face in the community.Â
My career path
Currently, I am a Social Care Worker at St John of God, and my job involves supporting individuals with disabilities, as well as their families. It is a rewarding career and a way to give back to the community.Â
It’s a very rewarding career path for me. I like to work in an area of social care where I can help people with additional needs and disabilities.
