“Living Synodality Now” is a one-day symposium on the Synodal Pathway and its implications for faith life in contemporary Ireland. It has been jointly organised by South East Technological University and Carlow College, St Patrick’s.
Speakers include Professor Michael A. Conway, Director of the Irish Centre for Faith and Culture, Julieann Moran, General Secretary of the Synodal Pathway in Ireland, and Paula McKeown, Director of Living Church in the Diocese of Down and Connor.
The symposium will be of interest to priests, pastoral workers, teachers, chaplains, and anyone involved or interested in ministry. It takes place on Saturday, 11 March 2023 from 12:00pm – 4:00pm on the Cork Road Campus of SETU, Waterford. The attendance fee is €20 per person. About the Synodal Pathway
A Synodal Pathway for the Catholic Church in Ireland was announced in March 2021. This coincided with the announcement by Pope Francis of a Universal Synod entitled, “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.” A nationwide, faith-based, consultative process on the theme of the Universal Synod brought together individuals and parishes, religious orders and associations, groups, movements and organisations within the Church and Irish society, to share their insights. This led to the National Synthesis Document of the Catholic Church in Ireland, which was sent to the synod office in Rome in August 2022. A universal working document, Enlarge the Space of Your Tent, was then offered back to each diocese for further reflection in October 2022 and these deeper reflections now form the basis of seven continental assemblies. As the Universal Synod continues, the Catholic Church in Ireland also continues its pathway.
