Congratulations to English lecturers, Dr Simon Workman and Dr Eoghan Smith on the recent publication of the Irish Studies Review special edition: The rise of the phoenix: restoration and renaissance in contemporary Irish writing, 31.3 (Autumn 2023). which they guest edited. 

Essays in the edition focus on trends, themes, genres and engagements in post-crash ‘Celtic Phoenix’ Irish fiction. The edition contains some of the latest scholarship on Irish writing since the 2008 financial crash, and includes essays by emerging and established scholars such Orlaith Darling, Aran Ward Sell, Paul Delaney, Bridget English, and Kersti Tarien Powell.
