Dr Noel Kavanagh and two students Ciel and Sophie from Tyndall College Carlow talked to Sue Nunn about the Philosophy for Children (P4C) course. Noel explained the P4C methodology for young people is to experience rational and reasonable dialogue about things that matter to them and their teachers. All participants work together in a ‘community of enquiry’. Noel has been teaching P4C for a period of 12 weeks in Tyndall College and other secondary schools across the South East. Both Sophie and Ciel talked about their experience of the course and how it has contributed to their self awareness and how it has enhanced learning and participation in many of their other subjects.
