As announced in Budget 2027, there will be a €150 reduction in the student contribution fee. This will be available to all registered HEA (Higher Education Authority) Free Fees eligible undergraduate students in 2026/2027. The following programmes are eligible for the reduction:
- BA & BA (Honours) in Applied Social Studies
- BA & BA (Honours) in Arts & Humanities
- BA (Honours) in Social, Political & Community Studies
- BA (Honours) in English & History
Students who have paid 100% of the student contribution fund (student contribution charge – €2,500) on registration will receive a refund of €150.
Refunds will be processed to students who have paid the student contribution fee in full during registration.
All students who are due a refund will be contacted, via college email, by the Accounts Department in due course. The Accounts Department will require you to submit your bank details using the Bank Details Request Form and emailing it to accounts@carlowcollege.ie
Refunds will be processed as soon as possible after receiving bank details.
If SUSI is partially funding the student contribution fee (i.e., 50%), students will be eligible for the balance (i.e., 50% of the student contribution fee reduction – €75 – to be offset against any outstanding student contribution fee balance, thereby reducing the student’s student contribution fee liability to €1,175).
If SUSI is funding 100% of the student contribution fee, then no refund or credit is required as there is no liability to the student.
Students who have more than €150 still owing will not receive a refund, instead the credit is available for offset against student contribution fee liability.
Students can view their statement of account via their Student Gateway
