Carlow College, St Patrick’s received the Athena SWAN Bronze Award at the Athena Swan Ireland Awards Ceremony 2022 which took place at the Mayo Campus of Atlantic Technological University (ATU) yesterday.

This award is given in recognition of the College’s ongoing commitment to the goal of addressing systemic inequalities and embedding inclusive cultures in higher education.

Representing Carlow College at the awards ceremony were Fiona McGuill, President’s Office and Chair of the College’s Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team and Michael Sherman, Theology Lecturer and Secretary of the Self-Assessment Team.

Speaking of the award, Fiona McGuill said: “The College is very proud to receive this award as a testament to its commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the College community.”

There were 31 awards in total presented across the Irish third level sector. It was a wonderful day of celebration and the hospitality at the ATU Mayo Campus was superb.
