Public Lecture: Unwrapping Oppressive Attitudes Towards Children (In Time for Christmas)

Dr John McHugh, Programme Director Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care) and Damien McLellan, Consultant Psychotherapist will present a public lecture on: Unwrapping Oppressive Attitudes Towards Children (In Time for Christmas) on Monday 2 December at 1.45pm in Cobden Hall at Carlow College, St. Patrick’s.

This talk explores the role of Social Care as a new profession, one that does not simply provide care, but stands alongside children and vulnerable adults who are at the margins of society. Bringing years of professional experience of working with children and young people, Damien will challenge our assumptions of how children are regarded in the developed world. John will locate the discussion in the context of the emerging role of the Social Care professional.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
