Dr Jerry Dixon is one of the Directors of Psychology at Work CLG. He is an experienced field researcher in a range of quantitative, qualitative, and phenomenological research techniques with over 26 National, European, and World level peer reviewed research presentations and published articles. His research and contribution to knowledge of unemployment and organisational entry resulted in Jerry being awarded an Associate Fellowship of the Psychological Society of Ireland.
Jerry’s professional career spans Primary and Third Level Education, Sales / Marketing Management, Recruitment Consultancy, Rehabilitative and Vocational Training, Social Care, Re-employment Training, Job Coach, Career Counselling, and Professional Psychology. Adopting an open and eclectic perspective of applied psychology, Jerry’s 25 years of lecturing experience and contribution to the methods of lifelong learning and distance education (whilst lecturing with The Open University) resulted in being awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in 2007. He has also lectured with Carlow IT / SETU for 20 years in areas such as Introduction to Psychology, Child and Developmental Psychology, Social and Cognitive Psychology, Gerontological Psychology, Clinical and Abnormal Psychology, Ethics in Professional Practice, and Research Design and Methodology.
Special projects include delivery of Level 6 Learning to Learn, Leadership, Community Development, Advocacy & Facilitation and, Critical and Ethical Thinking & Decision Making to contracted cohorts including members of An Garda SÃochána, Irish Defence Forces, and Maximum security prisoners, and clients recovering from addiction. In clinical practice, Jerry specialises in Career Development, Depression / SAD / PTSD / Anxiety / Vicarious Trauma, Abuse / Trauma Recovery, Paralegal assessment, and Bullying issues as well as general EAP and Executive Coaching requirements.
Jerry was one of the founding members and previously sat on the executive committees of the Division of Teachers and Researchers of Psychology (PsSI), was the Honorary Secretary of the Division of Work and Organisational Psychology (PsSI), and was one of the founding members and former Chairperson of the Division of Coaching Psychology (PsSI).
