Our European History Lecturer Dr Ida Milne and Fergal Bowers join Dr Catriona Clear virtually this Saturday 5th September at 10am to talk about ‘Pandemic Reflections 1: The Spanish Flu’ as part of the Galway International Arts Festival.

Ida will talk about the Spanish Flu and how the world experienced something similar to what is currently happening – a global pandemic, which killed 50 million people worldwide and 21,000 in Ireland.

What happened in Ireland during that pandemic? Who died, how, and what did the authorities do to manage the disease? Did we learn from that experience? Will we learn from this one?
