Senior Recruiter

My pathway to third level

I applied for Carlow College through the CAO as at the time I was unsure what I wanted as my career and the subjects for Humanities were very interesting.

Developing a love of Philosophy

Philosophy was definitely my favorite part of the program. It pushed me to approach problems from so many angles. The media studies courses were great too, albeit in a different way. I loved getting that critical lens on technology, social media, and digital culture.

Skills development for future career

The most important skills I learned were Critical Thinking, Communication and Creativity all which I learnt during my time in Carlow College, I use these skills every day in my role as a Senior Recruiter with Azmi Talent Solutions.

The critical thinking and analysis skills you build in programmes like philosophy or history are so applicable. As a recruiter, I am constantly evaluating resumes, assessing qualifications, and making tough decisions. That ability to really dig into information and see the bigger picture, is what makes me a good recruiter.

And the communication side of things – whether it’s writing persuasive emails, delivering presentations to hiring managers, or just having thoughtful conversations with candidates, those are skills I have been practicing for years. I know how to engage people, how to get my point across, and how to really listen which I learnt during my time in Carlow College

Fondest memory

My fondest memory from Carlow College was the friends I made during my time there, I made some lifelong friends in Carlow College including my husband. Carlow College is not just a place to learn, it is a place to develop and create friendships that will last forever.
