Research Week 2024

Carlow College Research Hub is delighted to be hosting their annual Research Week, scheduled for February 26th to 29th this year. Research Week celebrates and acknowledges the active research efforts of staff and postgraduate researchers, while providing a platform for information sharing within the College and the broader community.

This year there is a wide range of talks, with lecturers participating from every undergraduate programme in the college. These talks cover topics in Arts & Humanities, Politics, and Social Care, offering opportunities for exploration and discussion. We are also pleased to welcome Professor Tyler Miller, Associate Professor of Psychology, South Dakota State University, as our guest speaker, who will present a lecture on: Deciding what to believe: How credibility and consistency shape our confidence’. Chaired by: Dr Seán Boyle, Research Hub.

Speaking about the event, Chair of the Research Hub, Dr Eoghan Smith said “Research Week is an important annual event in the college calendar that showcases and supports research at Carlow College. Researchers at Carlow College are engaged with societal challenges past, present and future, from a variety of historical, political, social, cultural, philosophical, psychological and theological perspectives. They are engaged with some of the core issues facing our society such as migration, technological transformation, sustainability, identity, the human personality, political and ethical questions, and social care.

We invite students, faculty members, and members of the wider community to join us for an insightful week ahead.
