<h5>Course Overview</h5>
<p>The Certificate in Child Developmental Psychology offers the chance to study the psychological needs of infants, toddlers and young children and how the family and other social contexts that influence the development of these individuals. It is targeted towards learners who need flexible options for upskilling and CPD such as teachers, counsellors, medical professionals, social workers, educators and childcare workers.</p>
<p>Credits: 10 ECTS</p>

<h5>Course Practicalities</h5>
<p>Course will be delivered on Tuesday evenings commencing on 9th September 2025 from 6.30pm – 9.30pm synchronously online for 12 weeks with an on-campus workshop scheduled during the semester.  Scheduled day may be subject to change. Orientation in week one will be on-site.</p>

<h5>Course Content</h5>
<p>The Certificate in Child Developmental Psychology examines the development of the child from conception to infancy, toddlerhood and early childhood. Over the course of 12 weeks, learners explore how the child can be viewed in the microcosm of the home and immediate family, the mesosystem of schools, church and community, and the macro system of culture, religion, economics and education.</p>
<p>The course covers key topics such as:</p>

<li>The History of child developmental psychology</li>
<li>Developmental Processes and Periods</li>
<li>Foetal Development</li>
<li>Theories of Development</li>
<li>The Developing Individual: The nature of Moral Development</li>
<li>Developing in Context: The Child in the Family</li>
<li>Development in Context: The Child in the Peer Group</li>
<li>Development in Context: The Child in Society</li>
</ul>
<h5>Assessment</h5>
<p>Learners will be assessed via a 1,500 word Essay (40%), and a final take home exam (60%).</p>

<h5>Course Overview</h5>
<p>The part-time Certificate in Citizenship, Identity and Belonging aims to provide learners with an introduction to citizenship, which has become one of the most political ideas of our time. This course explores the process of politics and active citizenship, and creative involvement in political life whether at a community, national or global level.  The course will also critically engage with the politics of citizenship, including the issues of membership, inclusion, and exclusion with reference to theoretical perspectives on nationalism, identity, and cultural conflict.</p>
<p>The course is broken into 4 sections:</p>
<ul>
<li>The Macro Level</li>
<li>Citizenship and the Dimensions of Nationalism, Globalisation and Identity</li>
<li>Applying Concepts to Case Studies</li>
<li>From Knowledge to Action.</li>
</ul>

<h5>Course Overview</h5>
<p>The part-time Certificate in International Human Rights introduces students to the main ideas and tools used in Human Rights theory. It covers important human rights documents, like articles, declarations, and conventions, using real-world examples. The course aims to develop students&#8217; critical thinking and their ability to create well-structured arguments by focusing on rights-based issues.</p>
<p>Students will learn to look at global problems, such as colonialism and development, through the lens of human rights. They will improve their writing, speaking, presentation, and digital skills, and learn to analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to support their arguments effectively.</p>
<p>Credits: 5 ECTS</p>

<h5>Course Practicalities</h5>
<p>Course will be delivered on Saturday mornings from 9.30am – 11.30am online with five classes over 10 weeks, supported by self-directed online learning and an on-campus workshop during the semester. Classes scheduled for 20th September, 4th October, 18th October, 8th November and 22nd November. On-campus workshop date TBC. Orientation in week one will be on-site.</p>
