Empowering young women through ‘Girls take over’ initiative

Carlow College, St. Patrick’s took part in the Girls Take Over Initiative organised by Carlow Development Partnership last week. This was the second round of Girls Take Over in Carlow and the second time the College took part in this inspiring program.

The key objective of this initiative is to empower young women through shadowing role models and leaders from various sectors. Across the world, girls stepped into the shoes of presidents, mayors, head teachers, business leaders and more to show that girls are free to dream and free to lead.

The student who ‘took over’ from our President Fr Conn O Maoldhomhnaigh was Lan Gaffney from St. Leo’s College, Carlow.  During her visit, Lan attended meetings with staff in the IT Department, the Marketing Department, the Students’ Union and also met with some students on her campus tour.
