Students enrolled in the second- and third-year Humanities Programme have the option to spend the Autumn Term studying abroad at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. St. Ambrose University is located in Davenport, Iowa, an urban community that forms part of the metropolitan area known as the Quad Cities. Davenport is the third largest city in the State of Iowa with a population of 102,157; the Quad Cities have a combined population of 383,781. St. Ambrose University sits on a park-like campus that boasts ‘the best college housing’ in the State of Iowa. With over 1,200 students choosing to live on-campus, Carlow College students availing of this opportunity will have a real ‘American’ university experience.

Features of this exchange programme include:

  • spending sixteen weeks in the United States (August – December);
  • paying Carlow College tuition and housing;
  • taking modules that fulfil academic requirements (students will not fall behind in their academic studies);
