Areas of Interest
Sarah Otten is a lecturer in Philosophy and Ethics at Carlow College. She lectures in political philosophy and applied ethics. Her areas of interest are the in the moral philosophy of Adam Smith, feminist philosophy and the critical theory of Horkheimer. In ethics her focus is on punishment and rights, and on our relation to animals. She is currently pursuing her doctorate on justice in Adam Smith in the Philosophy Department, Trinity College Dublin. Prior to teaching at Carlow College, she worked in Namibia, the United States and Malawi. She is editor of the Society of Women In Philosophy (SWIP) newsletter.
