Dr Lucy Hyland has been a lecturer in Social Studies at Carlow College since 2004 and specialises in the areas of disability, family and relationships. She has extensive experience as a social worker, a community childcare worker and a residential childcare worker. Prior to teaching, Dr Hyland worked in the areas of disability, probation and family support in various parts of Ireland, the United Kingdom and the United States. She currently teaches: Principles and Practices of Social Care, Child and Family Perspectives: Theory and Practice, Disability Studies and Intervention with Families. Her book 'Marital Separation in Contemporary Ireland: Women’s Experiences’ was published by Peter Lang in January 2016.
